Peri – implantitis
Peri-implantitis is an inflammatory disease around the gums caused by bacterial infection. It can result in the deterioration of the bone which supports the implant and usually requires surgical treatment.

Early warning signs of peri-implantitis are red, swollen gums around the implant site and bleeding when brushing. Other risks factors for developing peri-implantitis include previous periodontal disease, poor plaque control, smoking and diabetes.

Because bone loss is painless, many people don’t realise they have the condition, so scrupulous oral hygiene and regular follow-up appointments with Shiraz are essential after implant treatment.
